Green Guide: Bamboo

Green Guide: Bamboo

Bamboo has quickly become a terrific alternative to cotton or other types of clothing. As a resource, bamboo is sustainable - there's a turnaround grow time of 4 years - and it replenishes soil that's been degraded as well. Additionally, it's incredibly soft, breathable, and long-lasting. Whether or not you're choosing bamboo for the eco quality, it's a great material that deserves a lot of credit.

Some All Natural Homemade Products

#1 INSTEAD OF COMET OR AJAX

For a great all around cleaner and a perfect alternative to bleach cleansers, mix baking soda and a couple drops of tea tree oil. The tea tree oil acts as a natural anti bacterial, anti fungal agent. It is great for cleaning everything from counter tops to toilet bowls. A powder sugar shaker is great place to store this concoction. Don’t use too much however because it can leave a film behind.

#2 CHEMICAL LEMON SCENTED COMMERCIAL FURNITURE OILS

Make a PLEDGE for planet earth! Olive oil is a great alternative to commercial furniture oils.

#3 NO MORE WINDEX!

Club soda is perfect solution for streak-free windows.

#4 HARSH FOOT SPRAY OR ACNE MEDICATIONS

Tea tree oil is great for any skin fungus and bacteria including jock itch and acne.

#5 FORGET FABREEZ

Mix baking soda and lavender oil in a shaker bottle and sprinkle under your sheets instead of Fabreez. You’ll sleep like a baby and keep your sheets fresh!

#6 INSTEAD OF OVER THE COUNTER PAIN PILLS

Eat a handful was walnuts for a headache instead of Tylenol. Give it a try, it works, I promise!

#7 ALLERGY MEDICINE

If you sinuses are congested or if you have a problem with acne boil purified water and throw in a couple of lavender leaves. Take off the stove and place on a heat safe rack. Take a towel and cover your head while leaning over the steaming water. After about 5 minutes, wash your face.

#8 SODA SOFT DRINKS

Drink lots of water with mint and lemon or iced tea, instead of soda or sugar filled power drinks. if you do make tea, use the used bags to get your PH levels up in your garden soil.
